Do you need an affordable 3 carat blue sapphire? This gem is cut to extreme proportions: its depth is almost equal to its width. This style of cutting is sometimes referred to as "native" cutting because it completely disregards modern proportions! Its face-up size is very small for its weight because the stone is much too deep for its width. But this doesn't impair its value for Jyotish because it's still reasonably symmetrical; it just doesn't have the proportions demanded by the modern jewelry trade.
